Residents of Dubai who are experiencing problems with their computers can now call on a new breed of hero to help them out. Internet Heroes, a 24-hour computer support task force, launches its operations today with a promise to fix any PC problem, anytime, anywhere in Dubai.

The concept, modelled on the Geek Squad, a United States-based support group, will be the first such service in the emirate. Akash Aurora, the brain behind the venture, said it will be launched initially in Dubai, before moving into the other emirates and GCC countries.

He said the idea struck him when many of his friends kept calling him to repair their computer problems. "I ended up spending more time fixing some of their problems than having dinner. Be it setting up a wireless system to connecting a plasma TV to a computer, ordinary people need professional help.That is where we would like to come in and offer our services," said Aurora.

About 20 agents called "Heroes" will provide emergency service for your technology-related problems, no matter where the computers were purchased. The company currently employs 20 trained agents and plans to increase the number soon. Customers can call the hotline, following which they will be given a token number.

An agent will arrive on the doorstep as soon as possible. "It all depends on the traffic in Dubai and the distance. Our priority will be to reach there as soon as possible, be it at any time of the day," added Aurora.

"Our mission is to alleviate Dubai's computer problems, educate people to fearlessly embrace technology and practise the art of human interaction. Our agents are definitely going to be heroes after they solve problems," he added.
